We are thrilled to announce that Hibah Ahmed at Edgbaston Nursery School has been shortlisted for Nursery World’s Early Years Apprentice of the Year, a well-deserved recognition of her contributions to early years education. Hibah's commitment to nurturing children's growth and development shines through in the ideas and projects that she has implemented. From transforming outdoor areas to embodying her role as a well-being champion, she has created a lasting impact on the nursery, the Edgbaston team, and the children she cares for.
“I am so grateful to have been nominated for the ‘Early Years Apprentice of the Year award’ and I thank my team and managers for the help they’ve provided to even bring me this far. Doing an apprenticeship was always an option to explore and I have now realised how suited an apprenticeship is to my personal learning style. I have received a lot of opportunities and benefits from taking on the role of an early years educator, I’ve gained experience and learned practically and through theory all of which have helped me a lot. I have enjoyed interacting with parents and children and continuing to develop my personal practice as well as planning the best outcomes for the children. I look forward to continuing my career with 鶹ý and progressing further in any way possible.” – Hibah Ahmed, Edgbaston Nursery School
Hibah has a passion for outdoor learning and promoting children’s well-being, and her Forest School training has helped her to implement this in the nursery. She has created a stimulating sensory garden for children to enjoy, carefully selecting plants and materials that engage the senses, such as fragrant flowers, textured leaves, and vibrant colours. This has created a captivating space for sensory exploration that helped to encourage development and learning for children.
Hibah's natural talent for working in early years shines through in her exceptional relationships with children and their families. Through her care, patience, and kindness, she has created a nurturing atmosphere where children feel secure and confident to explore and learn. Her dedication to understanding each child's unique needs and interests enables her to tailor her approach and provide additional support to children where required.
